History

Casa Caribe is a beloved Puerto Morelos institution, and has been operated as a bed and breakfast and/or boutique hotel for over 22 years.  For several years it was the home of the Little Mexican Cooking School and the lovely grounds and great room area have been a popular spot for weddings and special events, as well as local artisan markets.

Development Potential

Casa Caribe is in the perfect location – just off the beach and a short walk from the charming town center of Puerto Morelos.  Known as the hidden jewel of the Mayan Riviera, Puerto Morelos delights with its wide, white beaches, vibrant town center, lively restaurant scene, charming shops and local artisan markets.  While it is just 20 minutes south of the Cancun International Airport and approximately 25 minutes north of Playa del Carmen, the vibe in Puerto Morelos is a million miles away from these tourist towns.

Life is slower here.  But don’t be fooled – there’s plenty to do for you and your guests  — fishing, diving, snorkeling, SUP-ing, kayaking, kite surfing, actual surfing, yoga, pilates, cross-fit, four-wheeling, tennis, golf and of course zip lining.  If that isn’t enough go explore the Ruta de Cenotes, nearby Mayan ruins, and it’s an easy drive to Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Tulum and other points south.  To the north you’ll find Cancun with its glittering hotel zone and marinas, as well as great shopping.

Rental Potential

Although Puerto Morelos has retained its small beach town charm, it has taken its rightful place as a favorite destination for travelers eager to experience the real Mexico, not the Spring Break version. Puerto Morelos has seen a whopping 70% increase in tourist visits over the past 5 years and quality beach side vacation rental inventory (especially with quality service) hasn’t kept up with demand.  The peak season for occupancy in hotels and vacation rentals is mid-December – April, however shoulder season bookings are increasing and we are moving towards a much longer rental season, more in line with Playa del Carmen and Cancun.   Most rentals in Puerto Morelos book at least a year in advance for February/March, and approximately 6 months in advance for other high season months.
