We had a miraculous virtual closing last Monday, and we are having another one today.
I’m using the word “miraculous” because an incredible series of events had to happen for everything to get in place to close these transactions in the midst of a global pandemic preventing most of our clients from being here to close in person and/or preventing us from being able to get the documents we need in place in order to close.
It has been very stressful for all involved (added to the just general shitstorm of stress created by this COVID-19 nightmare) and the truth is that we have some pending transactions that we aren’t going to be able to close until things settle down a bit. And who knows when that will be…
Although I’m usually the first to celebrate and post when we have closings, I felt really conflicted about it last week. So many of our clients are disappointed and anxious about when and if their transactions will close that it felt awkward to celebrate the ones we are able to complete.
And to be honest I went into a bit of a spin myself — the “pay off” for me in this job is happy clients and long-term relationships. So the closing last week felt a bit empty. The clients weren’t here and we didn’t attend either. Although our clients were pleased and relieved it was completed – no one was super happy – they’ve got too much other stuff to worry about. It was just strange and a bit sad, so I didn’t post anything.
But I think that was a mistake…
Upon further thought I think it’s ok to celebrate “wins”, even in tough times, if only to remind ourselves that this is temporary and good things are still happening.
SO I wanted to take this opportunity to say “YAY”! Last week we closed on the sale of this beautiful ocean front penthouse at Palma Real.
Many of you know the sellers – Dawn and Myron McAuslan – as they’ve been friends and neighbors here in Puerto Morelos for years.
We are thrilled to have been able to get this sale completed for these nice folks. And we are so excited that they are not leaving! They plan to build a home in the Puntarena community. We wish them all the best with that!
We want to extend a warm welcome to the new owners – Rob & Jennifer (also from Canada!) and can’t wait to celebrate with them when they are finally able to travel here.
Today we closed on a great little house in El Faro (have you seen this community? Well worth checking out!)
Our buyer Dan was (surprisingly!) able to be here for the closing, and will be staying for some time. Dan is awesome, and if you see him out and about say hello! (He’s the guy on the right, Gabriel is on the left!) He plans to make Puerto Morelos his full-time home in the very near future.
As always, we want to take a moment to give special thanks to our closing team at Secure Title Riviera Maya, particularly our closing attorney Maria Jose Loria. They’ve gone above and beyond the normal call of duty in order to help our clients get their transactions in a position to close.
Well, that’s it for today! Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon!
