Happy Closing Day!
We are so excited for our clients (and new friends) Mark and Kathy from the great state of Texas. They just closed on a beautiful condo at Playa Sol and will be full-time Puerto Morelians very soon. Woohoo!
Truth be told we are breathing a sigh of relief — this sale was a little different — just like everything about 2020.
In the beginning…
Kathy and Mark originally planned on spending the month of October in Puerto Morelos looking for a property, and reached out to us to help. We met via ZOOM (We love Zoom, you guys), and talked about their dreams and how they envisioned their time in Puerto Morelos and then got to work digging into the properties available.
We found this listing at Playa Sol which seemed perfect.
Unfortunately, due to the continued COVID situation, Kathy and Mark cancelled their planned trip in October and weren’t able to come visit the condo in person, so we got busy and did an in-depth tour via FaceTime.
At the end of that tour, they decided that although they would prefer to see a condo in person before buying (who wouldn’t?!) not being able to see it in person wasn’t a deal breaker.
Kathy and Mark knew they loved Puerto Morelos and wanted to make a home here. They were familiar with the Playa Sol complex, and loved the oceanfront location and easy walking distance to everything in town. And after the video tour they really felt convinced that this home was perfect for the life they want to create here. So they decided to go ahead and buy it! Very brave!
So we got the ball rolling and did everything we could to make their dream come true with the least amount of stress possible. I wish we could say it was totally stress free, but we started out with a global pandemic, which not only prevented them from seeing the condo in person, it also slowed down the legal process, as many offices were closed or running on less than full staff.
As if that wasn’t enough, over the course of our closing process Puerto Morelos was having some wild weather — we experienced Tropical Storm Gamma, and were treated to two (virtually) back-to-back Hurricanes – Delta and Zeta. Hurricane Delta was a direct hit on Puerto Morelos, Zeta a bit further south, but still caused some damage.
Luckily there was no damage to the condo and we arrived to the end of the closing process with an intact property and all the legal pieces in place. WHEW!
Looking forward…
Kathy and Mark are both retired teachers and they are looking forward to moving to Puerto Morelos full time. They plan to enjoy the beach and learn Spanish. Mark is ready to get on the golf course and they both want to get involved in the community and to continue mentoring students (something they love doing in Texas).
Please join us in welcoming them to the community!
A special thank you…
As always, we want to take a moment to give special thanks to our closing team at Secure Title Riviera Maya, particularly our closing attorney Maria Jose Loria. They’ve gone above and beyond the normal call of duty in order to help our clients get their transactions in a position to close in the midst of this global pandemic. We couldn’t have asked for a better team.
Saludos!
