Run Away Realty is 2 Years Old Today!
First of all, how is it December already? Secondly, Happy Birthday to us!
First, our thanks to you….
As we celebrate the completion of our second year in business, we recognize that we are deeply and profoundly grateful for the support of our family, friends, Puerto Morelos community and, most importantly, the clients who choose to work with us to help sell their homes and/or buy their homes.
There is no better job than getting to work with people to realize a dream!
Year 2 Has Been Amazing…
This has been an amazing year! We moved over a dozen properties and got to work with the BEST people. In what seems to be the new “normal”, we really didn’t have a “low” season, which is great news for our real estate market.
Giving Back
We love living in Puerto Morelos. This community has been so good to us and we want to give back. This year we worked with the MexiCAN Compassion Project on renovating the library at the Cinco de Mayo Kinder in the Colonia.
Our office donated money and books/materials to the project and did some work on volunteer day. What a great experience! This school is severely underfunded, but staffed by amazing and dedicated teachers and administrators, so it was wonderful to be able to help them do their job in serving some of the most disadvantaged kids in the area.
We also had a ball participating in the candy drive and handing out candy and treats at Halloween! There were almost 1000 kids! And they were all cute!
Although we aren’t sure who had more fun, the kids or Gabriel.
Education
On the real estate front we hosted some educational programs — Tax Considerations for Expats Living in Mexico and Seller’s Guide to Capital Gains — both of which were held at La Sirena (thank you Anthony Chalas!) and were well attended and received.
We started a new program this year – Moving to Mexico Mondays – which was designed to be a meeting where we would provide some basic information about buying/living/renting/working and retiring in Mexico, answer questions and invite other expats to share their experiences. It turned out to be a ton of fun and really helpful for people thinking about moving part time or full time. We are continuing it into the next high season – every Monday from 5-6 pm on the rooftop of La Sirena.
Special Thanks
Special thanks to our friend Anthony Chalas, owner of La Sirena restaurant here in Puerto Morelos. He has graciously allowed us to use his space for our events for two years and we couldn’t be more appreciative. We love the restaurant and Moving to Mexico Mondays on the rooftop are amazing!
Broker Tour
We also hosted a Broker Tour this year and had a great turnout! We toured our ocean front listings with a group of about 22 agents from around the Riviera Maya and ended with a wine and cheese reception at the beautiful Villa Mango Sunrise.
A Star is Born
Gabriel filmed his first episode of the TV program of Mexico Life, which is aired on HGTV. He had a great time working with the crew and Lori Beth
Kim filmed a new episode of House Hunters International (also on HGTV) with friends Elizabeth and Gary Sherman! And guess who had a cameo? Check out Gabriel teaching Gary and Elizabeth about tequila….
Honeymoon!
This year we celebrated our first wedding anniversary *cheers* and finally found the time to get away for our honeymoon! We traveled to France in October and it was amazing. Lots of walking and great art and wine!
We are so grateful for all of the opportunities that we have had and all of the wonderful people that we have met. We are continually grateful for the experience to work and live in this amazing town with such incredible people.
Mostly we are, as always, grateful for your continued friendship, business and support.
Warmest wishes,
Kim and Gabriel
